Hurricane Z3076 – Roseden
“In memory of my second son ‘Life’s work well done, now cometh rest’ ” is the inscription on a grave in Harrogate Stonefall Cemetery.
The grave is that of F/O Ulric Leslie Look Yan of Trinidad, only 21 years of age when he lost his life in a flying accident during the course of his training with 59 Operational Training Unit at RAF Milfield on 14th January 1944.
F/O Look Yan was killed when his Hurricane, serial number Z3076, crashed at Roseden whilst low flying in poor weather.
A small memorial plaque was erected at the tree where his aircraft crashed as it broke up across fields, eventually ending up in the farmyard.
