Welcome to North East at War, a website dedicated to the rich military history of North East England from World War 1, World War 2 and the Cold War.
Incorporated into this site is the research and reports of the Air Crash Investigation & Archaeology group, who during the 1990’s and 2000’s actively catalogued and researched aviation accidents across Northern England and Southern Scotland.
Most of the members of ACIA remain active in their own right, so their research and individual projects will also be included under the Aircraft Accidents section.
Pamela Armstrong’s amazing research into the Blyth Submarine base is also included on our website. Pamela dedicated her life to researching the activities of the base at Blyth and other related stories. Sadly Pamela passed away, but her work lives on through these pages.
This website will be continually updated. In the meantime check out our Facebook group here for more community based posts: https://www.facebook.com/groups/neeastwar/
