Archibald Bone
Private Archibald Bone (386084) of 1st/1st Northumbrian Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps, born Newcastle on 8th April 1895. He enlisted with the Territorial Army on 1st April 1913 aged only 17, and he was drafted into the Northumberland Fusiliers at the outbreak of WWI.
Archie was reported missing in action on Monday, 27th May 1918 at Craonne during the Third Battle of the Aisne, France. He was detained at Quedlinburg POW Camp and died aged 23 in captivity on 14/15 November 1918, according to German records due to exhaustion/fatigue.
He is buried at Niederzwehren Cemetery, Germany.
